ROCK YOUR MIND! to Feature NYU Scientists at the Bowery Electric

ROCK YOUR MIND !—a concert to benefit science programming—will feature New York University scientists, along with internationally acclaimed magician Mark Mitton, on Thurs., March 13, 8 p.m. at the Bowery Electric (327 Bowery [between E. 2nd and E. 3rd Sts.]).

The Amydaloids will perform songs about the mind. They will be joined by Space Clamps, who feature Sara Steele, who studies auditory perception at NYU, and Erik Nylen, a pre-doctoral fellow at the NYU Center for Neural Science, as well as Super Small, which includes Daniela Schiller, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Acclaimed magician Mark Mitton will ignite magic.

A Night With the Amygdaloids

The Amygdaloids return to the Helix Center on Friday Oct 11.  We’ll explore mind and brain and mental disorders through our songs, and Joseph LeDoux will explain the science behind the songs.

Second Annual Heavy MeNtal Variety Show @Sat May 18, 630-8p

A night of mind, brain, and magic.  The Amygdaloids will play several suites of our original songs on mind/brain topics:  the mind-body problem, memory, emotion, unconscious processes, and mental disorders.  Each suite will be preceded by a short (3 min) lecture on the scientific or philosophical foundations of the topic by Neuroscientist and Amygdaloid, Joseph LeDoux.  During a brief intermission, the internationally acclaimed magician, Mark Mitton, will dazzle you with mind-bending and brain-twisting tricks of his trade.

 An unprecedented opportunity to see and hear—for the first time—the scientists, shrinks and film scholars of New York University rocking out together for three hours of nonstop, action-packed, & fun-filled Group Therapy.

 All proceeds from this concert will benefit the Robert Sklar Memorial Scholarship to fund a student scholarship in the Moving Image Archiving and Preservation (MIAP) program at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.

May 9, 7-9pm:  A night of mind, brain, and magic featuring not only The Amygdaloids but also the highly acclaimed magician, Mark Mitton.  We will talk about mind and brain, and play our rocking tunes about the same.  Between our two sets Mark will razzle dazzle you with mind bending and brain twisting tricks of his trade.
