Anxious (the CD) by The Amygdaloids – Album Released !

On July 14, Anxious the book and Anxious the CD launched. The book offers a new view of fear, anxiety and other emotions, and how problems with fear anxiety can be more effectively treated. The CD explores some of the same psychological themes of the book, but through music.  The CD was recorded at Cowboy Technical Services Recording Rig (Eric Ambel, producer, Mario Viele , engineer). Cover art by Colin Webber at Viking and CD Design by Amanda Thorpe. Purchasers of the book receive a free download of the music (download code in the Preface).

In anticipation, Dr. LeDoux released the songs on his Facebook, one per day, started on Wednesday (July 8). Join us to stream the songs here !

NeuroRock with The Amygdaloids

June 22, 2015 – SciArt Center presented “An evening of neuroscience and music with The Amygdaloids” at Cornelia Street Cafe .

An evening of neuroscience-minded music with The Amygdaloids, a rock band headed by neuroscientist and emotion expert Joe LeDoux of NYU. The night  featured the acoustic version of The Amygdaloids (AKA So We Are), duo Joe LeDoux and Colin Dempsey. Jan. 16, 2015- Colin and Joe performed at Sidewalk, NYC last night. Rather than facing the audience when performing, they faced each other. Interestingly, with the musicians in this kind of intimate connection the audience felt vicariously connected.

Nov.18, 2014: Rosanne Cash joined Joe and Colin on stage at the NYU’s Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life for the 3rd Annual Emotional Brain Institute “Emotion in the Arts and Sciences” Event. The event was hosted by Judith Regan, host of Sirius-XM Stars Channel’s “The Judith Regan Show,” and will be broadcast soon. Joe and Colin performed ‘Inside of Me’ and ‘My Mind’s Eye’ and Rosanne Cash then joined them on stage to sing ‘Mind Over Matter’. Rosanne Cash then closed out the event with a few of her own songs.

ROCK YOUR MIND! to Feature NYU Scientists at the Bowery Electric

ROCK YOUR MIND !—a concert to benefit science programming—will feature New York University scientists, along with internationally acclaimed magician Mark Mitton, on Thurs., March 13, 8 p.m. at the Bowery Electric (327 Bowery [between E. 2nd and E. 3rd Sts.]).

The Amydaloids will perform songs about the mind. They will be joined by Space Clamps, who feature Sara Steele, who studies auditory perception at NYU, and Erik Nylen, a pre-doctoral fellow at the NYU Center for Neural Science, as well as Super Small, which includes Daniela Schiller, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Acclaimed magician Mark Mitton will ignite magic.
